*A film about the Beltway Sniper attacks, which terrorized the DMV area for three weeks in October 2002, has been picked up for distribution in the U.S. and will arrive in theaters later this year.
For a low seven-figure minimum guarantee, according to Deadline.com, Sundance Selects acquired North American and Latin American rights to Alexandre Moors’ debut feature “Blue Caprice,” which debuted at Sundance last January and stars Isaiah Washington (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Tequan Richmond (“Everybody Hates Chris”) as John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo.

“Blue Caprice” tells how Malvo, an abandoned boy, was adopted by Muhammad and brought into the horrific Beltway sniper attacks that terrorized the Baltimore and D.C. region.
The story is told from the point of view of the two killers, whose distorted father-son relationship facilitated their long and bloody journey across America. In September 2003, Muhammad was sentenced to death. One month later, Malvo was sentenced to six consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. On November 10, 2009, Muhammad was executed by lethal injection.
Joey Lauren Adams, Tim Blake Nelson and Leo Fitzpatrick also star in “Blue Caprice,” which is scheduled to open Film Society of Lincoln Center and MOMA’s 2013 New Directors/New Films Festival.
